Flowers, Mountains, Frank Sinatra
This is one of my favorite people in the whole world! My sister.
I wanted to take some vintage portraits of her so we planned on a session at sunset. We drove about two minutes away from my parent’s house and boom… I found this spot. We were lucky because golden-hour was flying by. It was getting dark out. The mountains we grew up seeing around us were calling my name (I know, corny!). Truth is, I haven’t lived in California in three years and every time I go back to my hometown I find something new to cherish that I didn’t see before. This time it was the mountains. I didn’t realize how purple they were. I also didn’t realize that there is a glimpse of blue mountains behind the purple mountains.
When you move away from a small hometown, you’ll cherish the little things. I’m happy my parents have this view right near my house. I’m also glad I found this spot for this vintage photo session. Can we agree that my sister rocked that red dress? I get the small-town girl…The Notebook… Vogue kind of vibes.
I wanted to capture some movement with the red dress so I pulled out my phone, opened Apple Music and played Frank Sinatra. It was perfect!
Pro Tip: If you’re going to take photos of someone, play some music! Music sets the tones for sessions.
P.s. Can you guess which Sinatra song we played?
